Jeep Safari in Pobitora
Nestled in the serene landscapes of the Morigaon district of Assam, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is a lesser-known treasure that promises a rich and immersive wildlife experience. Often referred to as the "Mini Kaziranga," this sanctuary is famous for its dense population of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, making it a must-visit destination for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is located about 56 km east of Guwahati, making it an ideal day trip from the city. The sanctuary spans approximately 48.81 sq km, with a significant portion of this area being wetland, which supports a diverse array of wildlife.
A Jeep safari provides a convenient way to traverse the sanctuary's terrain, allowing you to cover more ground and increasing your chances of spotting rhinos and other wildlife. The safari usually lasts around one to two hours, during which experienced guides share their knowledge about the sanctuary's flora and fauna.
Rules and Regulations of Pobitora Jeep Safari
- Each Gypsy vehicle accommodates up to 6 passengers, and an entry permit is required for all visitors. Children aged 4 years and above are considered adults for ticketing purposes, while no fee is charged for children under four years.
- The safari price includes entry permits, jeep, and applicable service taxes.
- We strongly recommend booking the safari in advance. When making a reservation, one must provide the name, age, gender, and identification number of each traveler. Please note that random checks may occur during your visit, so carrying all necessary booking documents is essential. Ensure that your online submission details are readily available at the time of your safari.
- Safari bookings are subject to availability and in accordance with forest department regulations. The park permits only 20 Jeeps per trip, and up to 12 elephant safaris are available daily for tourists.
- Once a Jeep safari is booked under the name of a party or group, the booking amount is non-refundable and non-adjustable.
- It is crucial to follow all booking procedures to ensure a smooth and timely experience in the park. Early reservations are encouraged to enhance your opportunity to explore the sanctuary and observe the one-horned rhinoceros up close.
- Please be aware that disembarking from the Jeep within the safari premises of Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is a punishable offense under Assam Forest Department regulations.
